Picture this:
You are at the club (or, say, the farmer’s market) and you’re wearing the best-fitting jeans anyone can imagine. Not only do they fit perfectly, they’ve got a sunflower blooming on the leg (or, tulips growing out of the back patch pocket). And that really hot (or really cool) person calls out, “Nice jeans.”
After you come to Camp It’s In My Jeans 2026, you will be answering “Thanks. I made them.”
In this four-day workshop, you will learn what it takes to customize your custom jeans with hand embroidery, you’ll customize a jeans pattern to fit your unique body, and you will learn finishing techniques that take all of your hand sewn garments up another notch or two.
Day 1—Embroidery fundamentals and design; Measurements and start your mockup.
Day 2—Finish mockup, fit adjustments. Cut final pair, start embroidery
Day 3—Continue stitching and assembly
Day 4—Finish jeans, class photo, and goodbyes!
We’re calling this camp because we’ve got a cozy farmhouse down the road where part of our stay. Don’t you want to sink into a sofa in front of a fireplace with your fellow students and work on your embroidery?
To provide students with the best experience, this class has a maximum of 8 students. If demand is greater, an additional instructor may be added to accommodate.
Caroline Cook is returning to lead students through the jeans fitting and construction process. She is a costume designer and technologist in the drama department at the University of Virginia, from which she holds a MFA in Costume Design and Technology.
Jessica Marquez last taught at Make It Sew in April of 2022. You may know her as Miniature Rhino—maybe you’ve got one or both of her books or have taken a class with her in New York, Maine, or NH.
